Oh, Haaaay there friend! Here I am, sitting in the man chair in my happy place (the shop), reflecting on all the wonderful souls who have come into my life through this business over the years.
In fact, I've been doing a lot of reflecting lately and thinking about what parts of my business really make me tick. What lights me up? I always thought it was the jewelry, the creating. Making pretty things, happy things. But I'm realizing more and more that it's actually not that. It's the people. It's YOU.
The people who love the jewelry. The people who tell me how it makes THEM happy or how sharing it made them happy. The people who love the energy of the shop, and chatting with all them throughout the summer. It's all you guys, MY people!! I just love you all, sigh.
In the summer, you come from all over the country and the world, and it feels like making friends all day long. So much fun. I learn about hometowns, other businesses, brands, artists, markets I could check out...
And I'm gonna get a little woo-woo on you here, but it feels like the universe sends just the right people at the right times, to let me know I'm heading in the right direction, or to shift my focus when I need to, or just to remind me that I'm out of a best seller and better get on that!
People are good, people are kind, people are friendly, and we are all so much the same. Wherever we come from, whatever our lifestyle.
I am totally in love with the way I get to learn this lesson, day after summer day here in the little village of Bar Harbor.
So thank you, all of you. The New York friends who've known me since Bendel's, the longtime friends and family who've known me since diapers, the summer friends who come and see me year after year, and new Maine friends who welcome me with open arms and opportunities. I love being a part of your lives, I love watching your kids grow, hearing about your life events, and catching up with you on a personal level.
More connection please, more hugs and laughter. With everything going on the world, this is what we need.
With love,
Anne
ps. If you are a great warm winter destination with art fairs, markets, beaches... let me know...
I want to come visit you!
