When to implement discipline

When to implement discipline

My word right now is "settle".

And as much as I am craving the feeling of being settled, the truth is I feel like I'm losing my mind a little bit.

While trying to take my own advice and connect to my body, etc. my body feels like static electricity that can't slow down. There is ZERO regularity in my life right now. I can't find anything to settle into.

Anyone else getting seasick is this same boat? 🤢

Here's what's helping me:

Going for a run or long walk outside (ugh it's so cliché but it really works) ALWAYS brings me some clarity.

What came through on my last one was "discipline".

When you're feeling scattered and disorganized and UN-settled, where can you practice more discipline?

Story - My friend Sue swims in the lake every morning. She goes very early, like 6am, and meets up with two or three other friends who share this practice.

She goes when it's rainy. She goes when it's chilly. She goes when she doesn't feel like getting out of bed.

What do you think that does for her?

What must it be like to do a thing like that even when it's hard, even when it's cold, even when you don't feel like it?

So I thought, 'where can I add some discipline into my life?'

I invite you to ask yourself the same question.

What can I do every day that will make me feel good for doing it, even if I thought I didn't want to?

I'm choosing the morning. This week, I am setting my alarm for the same time every morning. I will get out of bed, get my coffee and go straight to my yoga mat, do-not-pass-go style.

Now you, what was the first thought that came to you when you asked yourself where you could use some more discipline? Could you start there?

Let me know your plans or thoughts in the comments.

For some reason I'm called to say "just keep swimming" here so I'll go with it.
